What to Expect
The Cameron Highlands is a unique area of Malaysia. Its cooler temperatures and wetter weather provide lush green landscapes and many varieties of plants. Given that Cameron Highlands is most famous for its great hiking trails and tea plantations that spread as far as the eye can see, neatly organized into rows that create a beautiful pattern and symmetry across the rolling hills, this Half Day Discover Cameron tour is bound to leave you in wonderment. The temperatures are far from the only reason to go to Cameron Highlands. If you are still wondering why you should come to this part of Malaysia, there are plenty of reasons for you to spend time here! You can taste tea, buy tea or see how it’s produced. And even if you don’t drink tea, pretty sure you will be awed by the beautiful tea plantations! There are many tea plantations around Tanah Rata but the most popular one is the BOH tea plantation (BOH Sungai Palas Tea Centre). Mount Brinchang (Gunung Brinchang) Gunung Brinchang is the second highest mountain in the Cameron Highlands after Gunung Irau. Early mornings will be filled by a cacophony of bird songs. It provides a huge contrast with the town below, which seems to be devoid of avian creatures. Countless varieties of birds can be seen in an array of mesmerising colours darting in and out the peak. Keep an eye out on the trees and you will probably see at least five to eight species of birds that call Gunung Brinchang their home. Mossy Forest Don’t let the idea of hiking wear you down and make you miss out an opportunity to experience nature’s gifts. Hiking up the Gunung Brinchang leads you to a hidden gem of Cameron Highlands, the highly sensitive and rare ecosystem, Mossy Forest. There are all sorts of lichen and moss covering the roots and hanging from the trees here – it looks like something out of a fairytale or even Lord of the Rings! The ground cushions your steps as you tread the moss-covered grounds and take in the surreal sights. Here you shall discover the exotic floras such as the pitcher plants, orchids, primitive ferns, spices and medicinal plants in this dreamlike forest. Mossy Forest fun fact, did you know that a mossy forest is also called a cloud forest? Cameron Tea Plantation Renowned for its valleys carpeted in magnificent fields of vivid green, Cameron Highlands is the largest local tea producers, Boh Tea and Bharat Tea. The famous Black Tea, Oolong Tea, and Green Tea of these plantations travel to many tea houses across the globe. You would think you would get tired from the sight of tea, but on the contrary, it is just such a sight to behold. Something about that cool Cameron wind that blows in your face too makes everything so much alive and magical.   Boh Tea Heritage Tea Centre and Factory Filled with rich history dating back almost a century, BOH Tea Garden is the home of BOH’s first tea factory and its largest and oldest tea garden. In the tea factory, you will come to learn more about the process of getting the tea from the tree into the tea bag. Special thanks to the working force from Nepal and Bangladesh, every morning tons of leaves arrive at the factory out of the fields to get dried and crunched. The breathtaking journey to the tea centre for a sip of a delicate, rich and fresh brewed tea is a satisfactory journey for any tea lover. Walk between the tea hedges, along the walking route, and take part in the tour of the tea factory. Finally, get a delicious cup of tea from the teahouse overlooking the plantation. Can’t get any better than that now, can it? Best time for Activity:
